Common questions
- What is the settlement day?
- It is the day the Korea Securities Depository settled the trades. A US trade settles the next business day, so the settlement day falls a day after the trade.
- Why only the net amount?
- Brokers offset their clients' orders against each other and settle only what is left, so the buys and the sells are each smaller than the trading. Their difference, the net purchase, equals the change in the shares Koreans hold.
- When is it updated?
- The depository publishes a day's settlements one or two business days later; each day is added as soon as every security has been read.
