Periodic Transaction Report

Also called PTR, congressional trade report

The document a member of Congress files under the STOCK Act to report trades: House members with the Clerk, Senators with the Secretary of the Senate.

What is on a PTR?

A PTR lists each asset traded, whether it was bought or sold, the trade date, whose account it was (the member, spouse or child) and the amount as a range such as $1,001–$15,000 rather than an exact figure.

House reports are published by the Clerk of the House; Senate reports by the Senate's electronic disclosure system. One report often holds several trades.

Whalegun links each line of a PTR to its stock and shows who traded what and when on both the member's page and the stock's page.
