Contract modification
Also called modification, add-on contract
A change to an existing federal contract that adds money or changes its term or scope, published separately with a modification number.
How is it different from a new award?
After signing, a federal contract is often modified to exercise options, add quantities or extend its term. Each modification has a number and records the added amount.
A large modification can matter as much as a new award, or it can be the extension of a contract already known.
