Summary

President Trump imposes tariffs on copper imports under section 232. Refined copper gets a 15% tariff starting in 2027 and 30% starting in 2028, while semi-finished copper and intensive copper derivative products face a 30% import duty. The proclamation also sets a 25% domestic sales requirement for high-quality copper scrap starting in 2027 and calls for export controls on that scrap.
